Winter street parades
Published in
If standing around in the street and drinking far too much whilst being bombarded with confetti, to the accompaniment of popular tunes being played by an inebriated brass band in eyeball-searing fancy dress doesn’t appeal, then there’s always an alternative to the traditional winter Fasnacht carnivals: the Fire Parade in Liestal. I wrote about Chienbäse (the
Wedding at Kulturhof Schloss Köniz

I’ve added some new photographs to my online wedding photography portfolio, from a ceremony and party in October. It was a wonderful afternoon and evening for the couple and the location, at the Kulturhof Schloss Köniz near Bern, helped me to produce some wonderful shots. Two of my favourite photos from the event are the
My basic Lightroom workflow

Adobe Lightroom is a boon to the photographer. With the introduction of intelligent repair tools, it has now entirely replaced Photoshop for me, and I can not only tweak photos but also re-edit them to quite a level of detail. One of the great features of Lightroom is the ability to save a group of

Wedding portfolio update

I’ve been prompted recently to update my wedding portfolio; in particular since I’ve begun using Flickr as an extension to the image archive for this website. Emmental fire festival

The Fire Festival in Signau, a small area in the Emmental valley, is a Swiss folk and artistic festival; a smaller equivalent of Burning Man in the U.S. My friend and independent filmmaker Yannick de Zordo – who plays bass guitar for Choo Choo and who produced the great video for their song “We Go”
Wedding photography for fun

I gain a lot of pleasure through photographing the most important day of a couple’s life, and have spent a lot of time honing my skills to make sure that my subjects don’t just get a standard set of photos, but a unique visual documentary of the day through special moments.

A procession of some serious fire through the narrow streets of Liestal, near Basel, to mark the approaching end of winter.
Remembering the floods from 2005

I drove through Brienz this weekend for the first time in a couple of years, and roadworks near the office where I used to work reminded me of the terrible events of August 2005. Three days of unrelenting rain washed a large amount of debris and felled wood into the lakes of the Bernese Oberland,
