  • A winter weekend

In January of 2005 – five years ago this week – Jo visited me in Switzerland for the first time. These photos show our wonderful time together.

  • A set of panoramic photographs of Taormina, an ancient town built high on the cliffs of Sicily’s eastern coast.

  • Letham in the Snow

We spent much of the Christmas and New Year break in Letham, a small town in Angus, Scotland, where Jo grew up. Just after New Year, we took Archie, the family dog, for a walk around the town and Jo showed me places from her childhood as the evening set in and more snow fell.

  • We took a diversion off the motorway to explore the wintry countryside and came across the highest village in Scotland, buried in snow.

  • A few snapshots from last night’s Choo Choo gig at the Wasserwerk club in Bern.

  • Photos from an all-afternoon series of portrait sessions in Zurich during September 2009, finally online as a complete set.

  • An autumn stroll around the Ballenberg open-air museum with Jo’s parents.

  • A small selection of my favourite photos from the Satzart/!frappant/book4you/flabs anniversary party, in Uptown on the hill at Gurten, on the outskirts of Bern.

  • Pollara Lighthouse

A small gallery of a ruined and abandoned lighthouse on the main road from Malfa, atop three hundred metre high cliffs on the north western corner of Salina amongst the Aeolian Islands.

  • Flims, Graubünden

Jo and I pledged to one another that we will go on holiday during the first week of October every year and celebrate our wedding anniversary by visiting somewhere new together. This year, we chose the south eastern Swiss canton of Graubünden as our destination. The article contains a gallery of photos from our trip.

  • A gallery of photographs from the Strobist portrait day at the EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland.

  • Krist and Corinne

    Krist and Corinne

The next in a series of portrait sessions which I’ve shot for free, this time at and near my home in Spiez of friends Krist and Corinne.

  • Steam train Strobist

Werner Rolli organized a special steam train event near Solothurn last weekend, and I was able to help out by publicizing the event through the usual Swiss Strobist channels, as well as attend the event and get some photos myself.

  • A gallery of portrait images I’ve taken of team colleagues at work, for use on the team website.

  • Katrin in Interlaken

A portrait gallery of my friend Katrin, taken at three locations on the shores of Lake Thun near Interlaken.

  • Rain, Rain

Photos of various wetness around the city of Bern, as I head for the train station and home on a Friday night.

  • Virginia Water

A small gallery of photos inspired by the silvery light mixed with deep shade in the forest park of Virginia Water in Surrey, England.

  • My cousin Nick marries his sweetheart at Abingdon in Oxfordshire, England.

  • Jo and I visit the alpine lake of Oeschinensee, in a mountain valley above Kandersteg, and take a dip to cool ourselves off.

  • The Seenachtsfest took place last weekend in Spiez, so Jo and I headed up with our friend Beat to the vineyards near our home, where there is a commanding view across the castle, lake and surrounding mountains.

  • I occasionally receive emails from people all over the world, who find my photos and blog and want to know which places in Switzerland are unmissable for their upcoming trip. The most recent one has inspired me to make a series of blog posts in response, the first of which covers the high altitude mountain…
