I was at the Street Parade dance festival on the streets of Zurich again this past weekend. This first set of photos shows some of the participants of the floats, as they wait patiently to take their position in the parade which leads through the centre of the city.
Emmental fire festival

The Fire Festival in Signau, a small area in the Emmental valley, is a Swiss folk and artistic festival; a smaller equivalent of Burning Man in the U.S. My friend and independent filmmaker Yannick de Zordo – who plays bass guitar for Choo Choo and who produced the great video for their song “We Go”

Seenachtsfest Spiez

The Seenachtsfest took place last weekend in Spiez, so Jo and I headed up with our friend Beat to the vineyards near our home, where there is a commanding view across the castle, lake and surrounding mountains.

I couldn’t imagine being stage-front because of the regularity of the shots, but more a portrait photographer; taking bands out and taking photographs of them looking moody in grotty locations. Swiss band Choo Choo call their music “60s garage pop”, drawing influences from 60s teenage beat, pop and soul as well as contemporary garage rock. I have photographed them in the Dälhölzli woods and back lanes of the old city of Switzerland’s capital, Bern, as well as at the Funk am See open air festival
