Sunset over a frozen field in the Jura mountains

The right place at the right time

So much of landscape photography is being in the right place at the right time. Although images and scenes like this are promoted as being a sign of the photographer’s skill, that’s only the case if the image needs to be heavily manipulated. This was pretty much one-to-one what this field looked like, just as the sun was about to disappear behind the trees after we’d been for a walk at a nearby lake in the Swiss-French Jura mountains. Most of the time, nature does all the hard work. Being there with the camera is just an additional privilege.
