Zermatt’s Famous Goats

For six weeks in the summer every year, young children under the watchful eye of a more experienced adult lead the local half brown, half white goats through the streets of Zermatt twice a day: once on their way to the meadows, and once in the afternoon on their return to the milking stalls. Although the goats produce much less milk annually than other types, the tradition is long-standing and one of the more well-known tourist-pleasing activities.
