One of the best parts of visiting Positano is a stroll through the roads and lanes from the upper town to the beach-side restaurants, stopping off in the shops and for ice-cream on the way.
It had long been a goal of Jo’s and mine to extend our walking and “bag” one of the Lakeland fells. However, we hadn’t anticipated doing so in quite such a challenging way.
Last weekend, we chose to head for the Eigergletscher (“Eiger Glacier”) station high above Grindelwald: to appreciate the astounding beauty of the autumnal landscapes below the station, to be enthralled by the massive cliffs of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, and also to visit the polar dogs who are kenneled next to the station.
