Passing by Sligachan

One of my photographic highlights of visits to the Isle of Skye is passing through Sligachan, where the main road takes you comparatively close to the Cuillin mountains. It’s a very well-known spot because of its history and its location on the main road across the island, and it’s one of the places at which I stopped off on the way to Portree when Jo and I first visited the island in 2005.

Its popularity and ease of access doesn’t make this part of the island any less impressive. On the same day that we visited Talisker Bay, we stopped off at Sligachan to go for a short walk by the river Allt Dearg Mor and take some photographs.

A couple of days later and on our way back to the mainland, lighting conditions and a wonderful rain squall made me stop and put my drone up to take an incredibly dramatic panoramic photograph before we headed on to the next stop on our autumn road trip.
