Finding light in Turin

Probably my favourite thing to do when visiting a city is to seek out special light with my camera. It helps me truly see the details of the place I’m visiting.

Where visiting parks, galleries and museums or “the sights” in general is a great way to spend time in a town or city, I love to just wander sometimes and let the light—be it natural or artificial—guide my eye and draw my attention. Doing this means that I get to concentrate on the details which make a city almost more unique than the big buildings or the vistas or the historic monuments.

I visited Turin in June last year for WordCamp Europe, but made a conscious effort to mix work-related activity at the conference with spending time alone with my camera, walking the streets and getting to know the city a little better. Jo and I had visited for an overnight stay in 2018, so I made the effort to see some new areas.

These images are the ones with which I made a conscious effort to try and capture the mood of the central areas of the city.
