Wonderfully happy memories of flying to Scotland last Christmas, spending time with Jo’s parents and later waking up with my love for our first Christmas Day together, at my parents’ house in England. This shot – a wobbly long-exposure I took using a tripod kindly lent for the evening by Jo’s dad – was taken near Arbroath in Scotland, in almost pitch blackness.

The orange light is totally original and is created by light pollution from sodium street lamps in a nearby town. Seeing the data related to this photo tells me the reason that I remember it being so cold when I was with Jo taking this photo: it was shot a little after midnight on the 24th December.
