I was intrigued by this effect. Although the photo looks like green sand, the ripples are actually light and shade cast by the sun on the rippling surface of the lake.
1st August is Switzerland’s Bundestag (or federal day), so Jo and I usually take advantage of the day off work to celebrate our adopted home. Here are some photographic mementoes of the day trips we’ve made. Interlaken, 2006 Brienzer Rothorn, 2007 Bachalp, Grindelwald, 2010 Mattehubel, Reutigen, 2012 Glacier 3000, 2013 Oberberghorn, 2014 Hardergrat, 2015…
A picturesque hike on the way to the Faulhorn, from Grindelwald First in the Bernese Oberland of Switzerland.
When I first planned to hike to Bachalp above Grindelwald, I had envisaged not taking the photo above. However, the reception which the photo has received since posting it to Flickr has made me glad that I did.
As if the photographic splendour of the mountain hike from the Firstbahn cablecar station above Grindelwald wasn't enough, I used the rest breaks we took on our hike this last Sunday to shoot a handful of timelapse sequences.
