Vesuvius and Pompeii, Italy

Walking the streets of the ancient ruined city, it was very easy to imagine the streets alive with people watching the hitherto unknown volcanic explosions happening just a few miles away. The volcano which buried the city is visible from most points in the city, a constant reminder of what happened here so long ago.
