I love taking portraits of people; whether I know them or not. I do it because of my passion for the image, not for financial gain, and I really wish more people would volunteer to let me photograph them. Here’s why.

I’ve learned a lot about artificial lighting over the past few years and invested a great deal of time to hone my skill. However, I feel that it’s time to put the equipment to one side for a while and focus on using more natural light.

I return to the studio this weekend, to use full studio lighting for the first time in many years and share experience and ideas with a number of colleagues from the Swiss Strobist group.

If you’ve been following my blog over the past few months, or subscribed to my Flickr stream, you will probably have seen my One Frame Movie photos. I urgently need volunteers for more!

Some of the fashions in Positano and the surrounding area make you pause to wonder what decade you’re in. These Tom Selleck-a-likes are definitely at least fifteen years old, as they feature in an old holiday programme on the BBC, which we see occasionally at home.
