Roses wave gently in the breeze, and a wood pigeon coos from a tree, unseen. A cyclist glides silently by and a muffled, childish swear word echoes quietly from a nearby football pitch. Bees buzz, breezes waft, and a boy bounces past on a pogo stick.
One of my favourite finds during my lunchtime walks around the city of Bern, this park is a haven of quiet and surrounded by a mix of views and architecture from the earlier part of the 20th century and onwards.
A lone man sat on a little fold-away stool, out of the way of people hurrying past, and played classical music wonderfully on an unaccompanied accordion.
There was a work car parked outside which no-one was using over lunchtime, so I decided to pinch it and drive up a random mountain road. I drove higher and higher as the road got narrower and narrower, avoiding small rocks in the road and marvelling at the panoramic view toward Meiringen in the east…
