The Red Makes It

Photographically, a single red element in a photograph can really help to give it focus; in particular where a red element contrasts with the remainder of the image. We’re not talking photoshopping a red element in an otherwise black-and-white photo, but taking the time and effort to compose and capture the scene in a single shot.

With thanks to my friend Graham from Alpiglen Art & Photography, who introduced me to the technique back in the mid-2000s. Amazingly, the Flickr group he founded in August 2005 ist still going strong. The technique also led us to co-produce the second edition of the Swiss Peeks books using The Red Makes It as a subject in 2008.
