Photo album Review Of My Year 2010

Simmental by Night

A bitingy cold, clear, starry evening so we headed up to the road from Boltigen to the Jaun Pass, slipping and scrabbling over the snowy road to get an elevated view over the moonlit valley below. Jo and I first went up to see this view when I collected her from the airport on her […]

Spiez, Switzerland

Some people go to the pub to unwind on a Friday night. I pack my camera and tripod into the car and head out into the darkness to take photos of the freshly-fallen snow.

Winter approaches, Reutigen, Switzerland

When heading into the Bernese Oberland from Bern, the alpine massiv rises up out of a flat plain very abruptly. At Reutigen, not far from where I live, the contrast between plain and mountains is at its most extreme, with a vertical difference of around a mile between the fields and the peak of the […]

Mum, Dad and Jo at the H.R. Giger Museum Bar

H.R. Giger Museum Bar

Giger Museum Bar is a cavernous, skeletal structure covered by double arches of vertebrae that crisscross the vaulted ceiling of an ancient castle. Melchtal beneath the Clouds

The "Nebelmeer" (lit. sea of cloud) is a fabulous meteorological phonemenon at this time of year, caused by a band of low-lying, dense cloud in alpine valleys. A low level of air movement in the earlier parts of the day allows the morning dew to form cloud, then stay low in the valleys due to […]

Three Year Anniversary

Yesterday was the sixth anniversary of us getting together; today is our third wedding anniversary. We promised each other that we’ll take a special trip to celebrate every year and this year’s destination was the Piz Gloria mountain-top restaurant on the Schilthorn. We last visited in 2005 and decided that we’d go up again today […]

My love, 6 years on

In October 2004, I made my first journey to Scotland and met Jo "in real life" (as they say) for the first time. We spent days travelling around the Angus countryside; one of my first photos of Jo was taken on a woodland walk at Glamis Castle when she was trying to avoid being photographed. […]
