Photo album Autofriedhof, Kaufdorf

The Autofriedhof (car cemetery) was an extraordinary collection of rotting cars, dumped by a spare parts salesman on land behind his workshops since the 1930s in Kaufdorf, between Thun and Bern. The cars, in varying stages of decomposition, remained untouched since they were abandoned in the woods and were mainly collapsed hulks. The range of cars was fantastic: from Minis and Peugeots to old Chevrolets, Mustangs, Thunderbirds, Rileys and Jaguars from the 1950s and earlier. The area was cleared after the government took legal action against the owner between 2016 and 2018.
