Trying to communicate scale

Cable cars emerging from a cloud inversion at Grindelwald

With the small frame of a photograph and the size of the landscapes in the Alps, it can be difficult to get across just how massive the scene is. By choosing an element in the scene which the viewer can relate to – in this case, a cable car tower and two gondolas – the true sense of scale and a better sense of awe comes across. The cable cars are heading to (and from) the new cable car station at Eigergletscher.

This photo is available to order as a print – in horizontal format or in vertical format – from my online print shop at Redbubble.
