I don’t do New Year resolutions, preferring to continue with little projects which come to me when I have the time and the opportunity. I’ve spent too much of my spare time sinking into technology and web stuff over the past year, and too little time on my primary love: photography and visual media.
I have a new, full Adobe CC licence through work and so I can finally have a go at using the professional-quality video editing programme Premiere Pro. Because I’ve been using Adobe products for years, I’m finding it a lot easier to use than DaVinci Resolve, as many of the options and methods for editing the video images are similar to those I use in Lightroom.
As a first effort for the first day of the new year, I’ve delved into my archive of video clips and put together a short sequence from a winter evening in 2011. I’m chuffed with how easy it has been to put this together, and although the image quality is lacking (due to a lack of experience in 2011 and a lower quality video camera at the time), I’m looking forward to spending more time putting films like this together.
