We took a drive through the Alps last weekend, to photograph the famous curves of the old cobbled pass road at Tremola. The serpentine route leads up to the Gotthard Pass from Airolo and provides cyclists and driving enthusiasts with a slow but memorable experience. If visitors haven’t had enough of being jolted around on the many cobbles, which were last laid in the 1950s, the old pass road covers a total of 16 km, from Airolo in the south up and over the San Gottardo to the cantonal border with Uri. From there, the modern road leads north to the villages of Hospental and Andermatt, before beginning a long descent at the Devil’s Bridge, towards Göschenen and northern Switzerland.
