The church on the hill in Ligerz is well-known, both in the region and across the country, thanks to its idyllic position amongst the vineyards. The view often appears in tourist material for Switzerland and, as is the case for all vineyards, most often photographed in autumn.
This classic view of the church and vineyards, with Lake Biel and the peninsula of St. Peters Island behind and the Bernese Alps in the distance, was taken from a spot on Unterer Festiweg, a lane leading along the top of the vineyards, just to the west of a junction with the small road called Charrière.
The lanes through the vineyards are very narrow and Unterer Festiweg is pedestrian-access only. You can either park at the church and walk up the very steep hill, or near the Restaurant Aux Trois Amis.
