Arisdorf, Switzerland

The name “Arisdorf” is probably known to most Swiss as a place on a traffic bulletin. It’s the name given to a 1.4-kilometre-long motorway tunnel which takes travellers through the undulating hills of the Jura between Oensingen and Basel. However, the village itself is much more picturesque, as you can see, with many cherry and apple trees. The village dates back to 1154 and the church to 1595.
