Portraits by candle-light

I get asked to take photos for events sometimes. To make it a bit more interesting for myself, I like to try new techniques or ideas on a captive subject matter. This time, for an event organised by my employer !frappant, I rented a 23mm f1.4 lens from a local photo store with the idea of taking relaxed portraits of my work colleagues: each of them holding a candle to add more illumination to their faces in the darker surroundings of the bar. I used the very wide lens aperture to ensure a very shallow depth-of-field. These are the best results from the set.
