After a long time with a much reduced amount of interest for photography, I am finally getting back to wanting to capture images again. The unenforced time out has done me good. I am reminded once more of the pleasure of waiting for the moment to be right; when the light and the surroundings all come together and the scene is truly worth capturing. Not just because of how it looks, but also, increasingly, because it reminds me of a time, a place, an experience.

Such is the case in this photograph. A little less than ten minutes of patience in the midst of the busy cathedral in Canterbury, waiting for other tourists to make their way out of the scene, gave me this wonderful shot of light, perspective and history.
