Faulensee, Switzerland

It’s always good to be near water when there is a special sunset going on. Here, a partially cloudy day ended with a drawn-out bang as the sun poked beneath the clouds. Tthe misty glow to the left of the village in the middle of the picture is driving, misty rain being back-lit by the sunset.

I hurried home from the eastern Bernese Oberland, seeing the sunset forming in the distance, and managed to get to the marina near Faulensee, on Lake Thun, in time for the full effect of the red and golden sunset. A careful choice of exposure and a few adjustments in Lightroom helped to ensure that just enough detail was retained in the silhouetted lake shoreline, to show the lights of the village.
