I was honoured to be invited to photograph a friend’s wedding last week. After a fair amount of preparation and thinking about how I wanted to photograph the wedding – bearing in mind it’s been a long time since I did so – everything went really well. The photos are currently sitting in a preview space online for the happy couple to view when they get back from a honeymoon in Scotland.
This was the first wedding I’d been to where much of the congregation were German and it surprised me that the occasion was different to a British wedding in several ways. One of these was a particularly personal gesture organized by the couple’s family: each guest was given a rose and small piece of notepaper upon arrival, so that they could write a small, personal message to the bride and groom. A very touching and unusual alternative to a wedding book.
