Beyond Kinlochbervie lies one of the most beautiful sandy beaches in Sutherland: Oldshoremore. Formed from eroded sandstone and seashells, the white sand beach is surrounded by marram grass dunes (machair). With over 200 different species of flowering plants, the machair is home to the bluebell, red clover, cinquefoil and early purple orchid. Jo and I visited this remote part of Scotland in 2010, when we were underway on a two week road trip from Switzerland to Scotland and back.
