This is the first of a new series of shots, in which I’ll be using strangers to make multiplicity photos. The subjects will often be oblivious of the fact that they’re taking part, and even if they see that I’m taking photos, they will not be asked to take part in any kind of set-up photographs.

I came up with the idea for this project after looking through other sets of multiplicity photos, when I realized that most examples of this kind of shot are self-portraits and usually calculated or set up to achieve good results. My approach will hopefully lead to more "realistic" – less staged – photos. I’m also intending on doing some staged shots using friends and family, so it’ll be interesting to see if there’s any difference between staged and random shots.

This first image has worked particularly well, and features the same person five times. Can you find the fifth?
