House of Dreams

A second attempt of creating an infra-red effect using a digital image taken in East Lothian last weekend. Dramatic darkening of blue skies and the high contrast of brilliant whites are a feature of using this method, which can easily be achieved in Photoshop by switching to the "Channels" tab («Kanäle», for German users), duplicating the red channel into a new document, and then converting this new document to grayscale. Here, I’ve converted the new image to a three-colour RGB file and added a sub-sepia tonal effect. Naturally, appropriate doging and burning are required, particularly to bring the shadow tones down slightly.
