    Lauterbrunnen Valley

The Lauterbrunnen valley, in the mountains above Interlaken, is one of the most dramatic in Europe. High cliff walls rise vertically from the valley floor, over a mile high in places, whilst small villages and hamlets perch as precariously as they can to enjoy the view. Higher up, the massive peaks have become a playground for walkers and sports fanatics; skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer means that the valley is one of the most popular destinations in the Bernese Oberland.
