    One of the reasons I organize photographic meetup days is so that I can learn new techniques, use equipment that I might not have encountered before, and try to challenge myself using a range of different lighting techniques to produce a variety of shots. During a day in the studio in December last year, Habi and his girlfriend Nina stood as models for me while I tried out studio lighting equipment which I’d first got to grips with earlier in the year, along with a few fellow photographers from the Swiss Strobist group. I most enjoyed experimenting with a studio flash in the style of a “fresnel lantern“, creating the highly focused spotlight effect seen in the main photo above.
