    Career

Mark’s photographic work is primarily freelance-based and carried out as a passion during his spare time. He’s been an internet programmer, designer and developer since the mid 1990s, and it’s this area which forms the core of his career.

    Currently

Mark is the Technical Manager at !frappant, a well-known web division of creative agency Satzart in the Lorraine district of Switzerland’s capital, Bern. He specializes in front-end web development and code integration to the TYPO3 and WordPress content management systems, with which the agency has excelled and developed a leading reputation throughout the past decade. Ongoing development within the agency is extending support and use of the WordPress platform, as well as in-house code repositories, project management, technical training, visual design and mobile solutions. Mark also lends his expertise as a photographer to the company and clients through the in-house photographic studio.

    2008-2011

Mark worked for the Crossmedia practice in the Bern office of Burson-Marsteller Switzerland for two and a half years, working closely with creative colleagues as well as communications and p.r. experts across the international Burson-Marsteller network. His particular area of expertise remains online communication and design, in which he supported clients on a range of scales for Burson-Marsteller: from multinational corporations to local science specialists.

Since joining the company in summer 2008, Mark provided in-depth conceptual, design and technical support to clients such as Smith & Nephew, auto schweiz, Russian Railways, Microsoft Switzerland, SBB, Diners Club, Bayer Healthcare and the Swiss Nuclear Forum. His largest project was for a wide-reaching digital relaunch of the network of Burson-Marsteller EMEA websites in 2010, in collaboration with colleagues and digital specialists across the European, Middle East and Africa region.

    2001-2008

After moving to Switzerland in 2001, Mark worked for a multimedia production and newspaper publishing company for over seven years, where he was co-developer for an advanced content management system and fully responsible for web client support from 2004 until 2008. Holding the role of Senior Media Producer, Mark additionally provided technical and creative support to the newspaper team and occasionally stood in as a newspaper and corporate photographer when required.

    Pre-internet

After leaving school, Mark worked in a variety of customer service environments, first within the automotive industry and subsequently within logistics and marketing departments of a large food company. Mark joined the corporate client support team within a leading communications industry group in 1997, where he was responsible for the first full sets of documentation for internal working practices, the training of up to 80 staff, and team-based management of the national pre-Millennium data services contract audit. Mark later joined the corporate client reporting team, where he was heavily involved in the development and programming of an internal reporting system and departmental intranet tools.
