I was at school just up the road from the Royal Aircraft Establishment (RAE) in Farnborough in the 1980s. Persisting memories of the biannual Farnborough Air Show were that the show took place at the same time during both my GCSE- and A-level exams, when my school was right under the flight path for jets taking off and coming in to land. Concorde was also still around, proving its engineering might by rattling many a window in north Hampshire as it took off from the airport at which it was conceived. My favourite was always the R.A.F. display team: the Red Arrows. For a full film of this year’s display, visit this article on the Get Hampshire news website.
